Shared Groups

The Master Merchant facility allows Master Merchants and sub-merchants to access and use shared resources, namely vault tokens and customer profiles.

Vault tokens are used for collecting your client's billing details and keeping them safe at Paydock. You can read more about our PCI-DSS compliant Vault storage here.

Customers are individuals who can make or receive payments. Through the use of vaulted tokens, customers store one or more payment sources, so that payment information doesn’t need to be collected again every time he or she makes a transaction. More information on how to create a customer can be found here.

Shared vault tokens and customer profiles are a convenient and secure way of storing personal and billing details to be accessed by multiple sub-merchants. For example, when all of your sub-merchants belong to the same company but are located in different branches with different merchant accounts, all of them can access payment details for each customer and the customer can make payments across the company without having to re-enter their payment information.

Sharing Vault Tokens

You can create and manage a group of sub-merchants who can all access a vault token. You may also want to grant some privileges to the group of sub-merchants to complete actions such as searching and getting a vault token by ID, making a charge, creating a customer, or adding a new payment source for the customer, etc.

You decide what privileges the group will have and, consequently, what actions they will be able to perform. Sub-merchants can be included in several groups with different privileges at the same time.

You can also give some permissions to your group, i.e. grant access to resources such as vault tokens.

To create a shared group for Vault Tokens, follow these steps:

  1. Log into your Paydock Master Merchant Production or Sandbox account;
  2. Go to Shared Groups in the Profile menu;
  3. Specify your group Label to distinguish it among others. This is for your reference only;
  4. Select the Vault option from the Global Entity dropdown;
  5. Choose one or more parameters from the Privileges drop-down. There are items such as:
    1. Create charge with vault token;
    2. Modify customer with vault token;
    3. Create customer with vault token;
    4. Modify customer’s payment source with vault token;
  6. Select one or more Permissions from the following list:
    1. Get vault token;

Sharing Customer Profiles

This feature enables Master Merchants to share customer profiles across multiple sub-merchants, giving them the ability to complete actions such as viewing shared customers, updating customer information, and using their vault tokens to create charges.

You decide what privileges and permissions the group will have and, consequently, what actions they will be able to perform and what resources they will be able to access. Sub-merchants can be included in several groups with different privileges and permissions at the same time.

To create a shared group for Customer Profiles, follow these steps:

  1. Log into your Paydock Master Merchant Production or Sandbox account;
  2. Go to Shared Groups in the Profile menu;
  3. Specify your group Label to distinguish it among others. This is for your reference only;
